Overview of the course: 
Psychology is the study of the relationship between behaviour, performance and mental processes. Studying Applied Psychology at ED6 will give you a range of useful transferable skills, including research skills, team work and communication skills, all of which are valued by higher education providers and employers
Entry requirements: 
You will need a minimum of five GCSE at grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English and mathematics to study this course.
Topics: 
The National Certificate covers two mandatory units: ? Applications of Psychological Approaches ? Conducting Psychological Research. The National Extended Certificate will also include a further mandatory unit, Health Psychology. Additionally, a further unit which will be chosen from ? Criminal and Forensic Psychology ? Principles of Children’s Psychological Development ? Psychopathology and Treatment ? Applied Sports Psychology. This will allow you to choose a specific specialist area in which you wish to develop your knowledge and skills
How is the course assessed?: 
You will be assessed using a combination of internal assessments, which are set and marked by teachers, and external assessments which are set and marked by Pearson. Mandatory units have a combination of internal assessments (coursework) and external assessments. All optional units in the Extended Diploma are internally assessed. External assessments will take the form of examination, one in each year, which will demonstrate knowledge and understanding.
